Rear Sway Bar Install
Pictures
Hmm.. after my birthday we decided to install the rear sway bar from RAT(9/11/99). Well.. I decided to help Herbie Gibbons out.. I installed mine a couple days before. The new bar is considerably larger than stock. After installing it, I noticed a immediate improvement. Cornering was a lot better with the rear wheels planted and body roll almost completely gone. The real test came when I went to autocross the car... for the first time.. I experienced some oversteer. I did a couple 'opposite locks' which definitly would not be possible without the bar. Below are some pics from the install day.
  • Eric's Zaino shine - that's Eric hurriedly mowing his lawn before the meet.
  • Car show at Eric's - We had lots of turned heads driving up and down the road!
  • Herb's sweet looking green F1 GTP.
  • Unhooking the Borla hangers.
  • Eric getting the old sway bar loosened.
  • RAT vs stock - a huge difference. The stock piece can actually be bent by hand!
  • Boring out the mounting holes.
  • Eric working the bar into place.
  • Herb lends a hand to get the bar around the exhaust pipe.
  • Pretty trick looking! Too bad nobody will see it unless you flip your car Herb!
  • Then Eric reworked on his install. Silly man didn't grease up the bushings when he installed it days before! "Why is it making all that noise?!?"
